Our Isle of Man office has moved to new and much larger premises in the former Bank of Ireland headquarters at 4 Christian Road, Douglas, which has been renamed Sovereign House.
The new building offers almost 10,000 square feet of space, more than twice the size of our previous premises. The move was necessitated by the growth in our headcount from 14 to the current 53 over the past decade, not least the addition of a new pensions department.
The new Sovereign House is close to the Companies Registry and Courts of Justice in the heart of the financial and business centre and provides a large reception area and many meeting rooms for clients’ use.
In its guise as Bank of Ireland’s headquarters, it was also where our new group chief executive officer Gerry Kelly worked when he joined the bank in the 1990s, so we are hoping that at least he should remember his way around the building when he comes to visit.
Sovereign Trust (Isle of Man) is planning to hold a reception to mark the official opening of Sovereign House later in the year and are delighted to report that His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor Sir Richard Gozney KCMG CVO has kindly agreed to do the honours. I am delighted at how smoothly the move has gone and it is great to have more space for continued expansion, especially with new local pension offerings following the new pension freedoms legislation introduced in this year’s IOM budget.
“Our move also follows the redomiciliation of our Group holding company to the Isle of Man in 2017 and is a reflection of the growing esteem felt towards the Island, as well as our local commitment. We look forward to welcoming clients and intermediaries old and new to our Group HQ.”
