Mauritius to host pan-African FinTech Festival
After long months of re-coordination due to the Coronavirus restrictions, the Mauritius Africa FinTech Hub (MAFH) has announced that the Africa FinTech Festival (AFF) 2021 will be staged in a two-part format–a One-Day Virtual Event on 16 June and a Three-Day Hybrid Event form 13 to 15 October 2021.
The AFF was launched by the Africa FinTech Network (AFN) in 2018, and after two successful editions in Nigeria and Uganda, the third edition was scheduled for Mauritius in May 2020. Now reformatted as AFF 2021, the event will be focused on the theme of “FinTech, Sustainability and Innovation – The power trio to fast-forward Africa’s growth”, allowing all stakeholders better understand and dive into the Pan-African FinTech movement.
The AFF is open to all the stakeholders in the FinTech and allied fields including entrepreneurs, SMEs, startups, corporations, universities, financial service providers, tech companies, investors and regulators.
The MAFH is a fast-growing ecosystem where entrepreneurs, corporations, governments, tech experts, investors, financial service providers, universities and research institutions can collaborate to build cutting-edge solutions for the emerging African market. MAFH exists to pave the way for international FinTech companies and financial service providers to access the African market. Similarly, MAFH facilitates African FinTech ventures to do business across borders.
With a healthy, well-established legal system, favourable tax rate, fast internet connection and respected financial regulatory authorities, Mauritius has the right mix to power FinTech growth in Africa. You don’t have to live in Mauritius to be part of the MAFH, but there are strong benefits to running operations from there. Mauritius will function as the FinTech hub to and from Africa, assisting the creation of collaborative partnerships that will provide a benefit to all involved.
