Gabriel González, Director of Sovereign Marine Services, was once again in attendance at the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) 2023 in September. The 32nd edition of the MYS featured over 130 yachts and 550 exhibitors within the idyllic setting of the Principality’s Port Hercule, an iconic location in the Mediterranean and the world’s number one yachting destination.
The 35,000 yachting enthusiasts and professionals who attended the event were treated to the latest in maritime innovation, luxury and sustainability from naval designers and architects, boatbuilders and equipment manufacturers, not to mention managers, brokers and services providers.
This year’s Monaco Yacht Show fleet showcased 117 superyachts, including three catamarans, of which 45 were newly launched in 2023 and making their show debut, while a further 16 were either launched or refitted in 2022. The yachts had an average length of 50 metres, with some mega yachts exceeding 80 metres.
Notable highlights included highlights included the newly renovated 97-metre Lürssen Carinthia VII – the largest yacht at the show – the bold red 80-metre Bilgin Yachts premiere Leona, the 84-metre Feadship hybrid Savannah, and the striking green 75-metre Admiral superyacht Kenshō.
The five-day show also featured 58 presentations from shipyards, 50 yachts available for sale or charter through brokers, 61 luxury tenders and even two submarines, together with a stream of launches, previews, networking opportunities and parties.
Returned for its second year, the Sustainability Hub featured 16 exhibitors that explored ground-breaking technologies shaping the future of sustainable yachting. The eligibility process conducted in collaboration with the Water Revolution Foundation ensured that only companies with genuine and viable sustainable solutions were exhibited.
These included several innovative, eco-efficient multihull launches including Perini Navi’s 47 metre ART EXPLORER, the world’s largest aluminium catamaran, Technomar and The Italian Sea Group’s spaceship-style catamaran This is It, and Sunreef’s 80 Sunreef Power Eco, which introduces superyacht style to the multihull market.
The Adventure Area, a highlight from previous shows, also made a return appearance in 2023, showcasing new experiences and onboard entertainment options available to crews and owners.
“The MYS is undoubtedly the most important annual event for the yachting industry and a unique chance to meet with most of its stakeholders,” said González.
“When attending the MYS you realise that the aura of glamour and the quality of the networking remains unchanged. It was great to catch up with regular industry colleagues, as well as meeting new faces that we will hopefully be working with very soon.”
