Best Wine – Benjamin Romeo, Vina de Andres 2001. Sensational new style Rioja in a big heavy bottle.

Best Restaurant – J Sheekey, Covent garden, London. Founded in 1896 and named after the Covent Garden fish merchant. Delightfully old fashioned and still the best.

Best Book – The Churchill Factor by Boris Johnson. Fascinating. I didn’t know Churchill had ordered the destruction of the French fleet at Mers-el-Kébir in 1940.

Best Film – Ted 2. Not suitable for children but very funny

Best Music – The best of the Electric Light Orchestra. A blast from the past but bound to put you in a good mood.
