November’s best of list…

Best Wine – 2005 Pago de Los Capellanes Parcela El Nogal. One of the many great producers in the Ribero del Duero region of Spain. The El Nogal is one of their more expensive offerings but still great value for the quality.

Best Restaurant – Portland in Great Portland Street, London W1. A small menu in café style setting with an open kitchen. Interesting and very high quality cooking with a good wine list and lots of exceptional single bottles on their reserve list.

Best Book – Money by Martin Amis. This is a story of the rise and fall of John Self and is otherwise subtitled “A Suicide Note” . His tales of excess are hilarious.

Best Film – Southpaw. A gritty and very realistic boxing movie.

Best Music – Blur – The Magic Whip. A new and very good album from these old boys.
