Best Wine – CV Colheita Tawny Port 1962. Just the thing for the hip flasks at the rugby world cup. Shame England didn’t stay in long.

Best Restaurant – Chutney Mary, St James, London. Amazing modern Indian cuisine in their new, large and beautifully decorated restaurant.

Best Book – The English and Their History by Robert Tombs. Definitive and easy reading

Best Film – Mad Max- the new one. Very…..mad.

Best Music – The Shires. Maybe it’s a sign of age but I’m liking country music. These are young, British and good at it
