Stephen Hare
Stephen qualified as an English lawyer in 1998, specialising in private client matters. By 2003 he was a partner in a boutique law firm heading up the wealth planning and private client department. A change in direction saw him relocate to Spain and in 2004 he joined Sovereign’s Gibraltar office as in-house legal counsel. In 2007 he became a director of that office and was responsible for the legal, compliance and customer service operations. Stephen transferred to Guernsey in 2010 when the Group opened its first Channel Islands office and became the MD in 2012. Following a restructure of the Guernsey office in 2020 Stephen remains MD of the trust & company side of the business and also provides support and guidance to his colleagues in the pensions team. He continues to hold his practicing certificate and is a member of the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Management Institute and STEP. Stephen is a mental health first aider and is deputy chair of Sovereign’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. Outside of work, Stephen discovered Parkrun in 2018 and admits he’s got the running bug; he also likes to travel and is a self-proclaimed bookworm.
